  • Milwaukee County Resident Adults : (ages 18 & up): $8.00
  • Non-Resident Adults (ages 18 & up): $9.00
  • Seniors (Milwaukee County Resident, ages 60+): $6.00

Garden Hours

2023 Garden Season

Gardens open daily from 8:00am – 7:00 pm (please note, admission will be taken up until 7:00pm. After 7:00pm, the Gardens will remain open until 8:00pm).

Education & Visitor Center Hours

The Education & Visitor Center is open year-round.

ADA Accessibility

The Education & Visitor Center and most of the grounds are ADA accessible!

In 2015, through a partnership with Milwaukee County Parks, the Whitnall Park Rotary and FBBG, an ADA accessible walkway/path was added west of the Daylily path, extending down to the Bog Walk.

Driving Directions

From Downtown Milwaukee and the Northeast

(Sheboygan, Green Bay)

  • Take I-43 to 894 West
  • Exit at Forest Home – Exit 5A
  • Turn left onto South 92nd Street (signage will direct you)
  • Continue to intersection of 92nd and Grange (4-way stop sign)
  • Continue on 92nd Street through Grange intersection (signage will direct you)
  • Continue to the entrance of Root River Parkway (at College Avenue)
  • Turn right onto College Avenue (into the Parkway)
  • Turn right at the stop sign then turn right at the entrance to the Gardens

From the South (Racine, Kenosha, Chicago)

  • Take I-94 to Exit 320 (West Rawson Avenue/Hwy. BB)
  • Turn left (west) onto West Rawson Avenue and proceed to South 92nd Street (about 5 miles)
  • Turn right onto South 92nd Street and follow signs to the Gardens (about 1 mile)
  • Turn left onto College Avenue (into the Parkway)
  • Turn right at the first stop sign then turn right at the entrance to the Gardens and proceed up the hill

From the Southwest (Beloit, Rockford)

  • Take I-43 toward Milwaukee
  • Take the Layton Avenue exit, Exit 59, on the LEFT toward WI-100
  • Stay straight to go onto West Layton Avenue
  • Turn right onto South 108th Street/WI Hwy. 100 South (Walgreens on diagonal corner)
  • Go through the intersection of Hwy. 100 and Forest Home (McDonalds on left)
  • Proceed to College Avenue and turn left (go through residential area then into the park)
  • Turn left at the first stop sign then turn right at the entrance to the Gardens and proceed up the hill

From the West (Waukesha, Madison, Minneapolis)

  • Take I-94 to 894/45 South
  • Take the WI Hwy. 100 exit, Exit 60, on the LEFT
  • Stay right and merge onto South 108th Street (Hwy. 100) heading South
  • Go through the intersection of Hwy. 100 and Forest Home (McDonalds on left)
  • Proceed to College Avenue and turn left (go through residential area then into the park)
  • Turn left at the first stop sign then turn right at the entrance to the Gardens and proceed up the hill

From the Northwest (Fond du Lac)

  • Take Hwy. 41 South (becomes Hwy. 45 in Milwaukee County) to 894/45 South
  • Take the WI Hwy. 100 exit, Exit 60, on the LEFT
  • Stay right and merge onto South 108th Street (Hwy. 100) going South
  • Go through the intersection of Hwy. 100 and Forest Home (McDonalds on left)
  • Proceed to College Avenue and turn left (go through residential area then into the park)
  • Turn left at the first stop sign then turn right at the entrance to the Gardens and proceed up the hill
