FBBG Gift Shop Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes visitors/customers
  • 30 hours per week; includes weekends May > Sept.; Sundays Oct. > April
  • Promotes/sells shop items, FBBG Memberships; supports FBBG mission.
  • Selects/merchandises product offering. Develops/maintains vendor relationships.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, inviting retail environment.
  • Manages inventory (product and display/signage materials).
  • Interacts professionally/responsively w/visitors, Atrium staff & all building personnel.
  • Recruits and manages shop volunteers as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Effective, results oriented interpersonal skills; proven customer service orientation;
    high degree of personal accountability.
  • Retail merchandising experience and skill.
  • Solution minded, self-motivated and a creative thinker.
  • Ability to manage/balance cash/credit card transactions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Computer literate: Email/internet; Microsoft Word, Excel; POS system.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, car, proof of insurance & a safe driving record.
  • Must pass background check, conducted prior to formal offer of employment.

FBBG Plant Science Classroom Educator

Responsibilities:

  • Part time, Monday thru Friday; year-round educator; FBBG student plant science & environmental education programming.
  • Teach hands-on, outcomes driven, interactive curriculum, which includes on-site classroom based instruction combined with outdoor learning experiences.
  • Classes are taught at Boerner Botanical Gardens; occasional travel may be required to participating schools (travel expense is reimbursed).

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a Wisconsin certified teacher.
  • Experience in science related instruction is preferred, but not specifically required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule Monday through Friday.
  • Must possess effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor; proven high degree of personal accountability.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, car, proof of insurance & a safe driving record.
  • Must pass background check, conducted prior to formal offer of employment.
